A T-shirt, a pair of shoes or a fitted sheet without a size cannot really be bought: the customer does not know whether it will fit.
A product may be refused with the reason No dimensions indicated when it is the kind of product that comes in sizes and the listing does not state the size anywhere: not in the title, the description, the specifications or the variants.
This applies especially to:
- clothing: T-shirts, shirts, trousers, jeans, dresses, jackets
- underwear, socks, tights and swimwear
- children's clothing
- footwear
- rings
- bed linen, mattresses, curtains, rugs and tablecloths
- products made for a specific model, such as phone cases, screen protectors and printer cartridges
The size can be written in any usual way: S, M, L, XL; 42 or EU 38; W32 L32; 75B; 104 cm or 2–3 years for children; 160 × 200 cm; or “one size”.
Products that come in only one, obvious size, such as a phone, a book or a bottle of shampoo, do not need a size.
Example 1: T-shirts and other clothing
Imagine a men's cotton T-shirt made in sizes S, M, L and XL.
The photo shows the T-shirt, but it cannot show its size. The size has to be written.
Not acceptedNo size is stated anywhere in the listing. | AcceptedThe size is in the title, or the customer chooses it from the variants. | |

| The customer cannot know which size they are buying. | One listing for one size. Each size is a separate product. | One listing with the sizes as selectable variants: the customer picks the size before ordering. |
Example 2: Underwear and socks
Underwear and socks are often sold in sets. A set still has a size, and the listing must say which one.
Not acceptedThe set is sold without a size. | AcceptedThe size of the set is stated, or the product is clearly one size. |
Women's Cotton Briefs, Set of 3, White Size: not stated ![]() | Women's Cotton Briefs, Set of 3, White, Size M (EU 38–40) Size: M (EU 38–40) ![]() |
| The customer cannot know whether the briefs will fit. | The size is in the title, so the customer knows what will arrive. |
Men's Cotton Socks, 5 Pairs, Black Size: not stated ![]() | Men's Cotton Socks, 5 Pairs, Black, One Size (EU 39–45) Size: one size, EU 39–45 ![]() |
| Socks come in sizes too, even when the difference is small. | “One size” is a size: write it, and say which shoe sizes it fits. |
Example 3: Bed linen, curtains and rugs
For home textiles, mattresses, curtains and rugs, the size is the dimensions in centimetres. A fitted sheet that does not match the mattress cannot be used.
Not acceptedThe dimensions are not stated. | AcceptedThe dimensions are stated in centimetres. |
Cotton Fitted Sheet, Grey Dimensions: not stated ![]() | Cotton Fitted Sheet, Grey, 160 × 200 cm Dimensions: 160 × 200 cm ![]() |
| The customer does not know whether it fits their mattress. | The customer can compare it with their mattress before ordering. |
Living Room Rug, Beige Geometric Pattern Dimensions: not stated ![]() | Living Room Rug, Beige Geometric Pattern, 160 × 230 cm Dimensions: 160 × 230 cm ![]() |
| The same design is often sold in several sizes, at very different prices. | If the rug comes in several sizes, each size can be a selectable variant. |
Example 4: Products made for a specific model
Some products have no size in the usual sense, but they fit only one model: a phone case, a screen protector, a printer cartridge. For these, the model they fit plays the role of the size.
The brands ZELVIO and INKORA in this example are fictional.
Not acceptedThe listing does not say which model the product fits. | AcceptedThe exact model is stated. |
Silicone Phone Case, Transparent Fits: not stated ![]() | Silicone Case for ZELVIO X12 Pro, Transparent Fits: ZELVIO X12 Pro ![]() |
| Phone cases look alike, but each one fits only one model. | The customer can check that it fits their phone. |
Black Ink Cartridge, 12 ml Fits: not stated ![]() | INKORA 305 Black Ink Cartridge, 12 ml, for INKORA Jet 2700 Printers Fits: INKORA Jet 2700 printers ![]() |
| A cartridge that does not fit the printer cannot be used. | The cartridge code and the printers it fits are stated. |
How to state the size
The size can be stated in any of these places:
- in the title, when the listing sells one size: “Men's Cotton T-Shirt, Black, Size M”
- in the Variants step, when the product comes in several sizes: add the Size feature and one value for each size, so the customer chooses before ordering
- in the description, for details such as the measurements of each size
Do not write that the size will be agreed after the order, or sent depending on availability.
Products in one size
Some products really are made in one size, such as a scarf, a cap with an adjustable strap, or one-size tights.
Write it: “one size” or “universal size”, and, if you can, what it fits, for example “adjustable, 54–60 cm” or “EU 36–42”.
Products that come in a single, obvious size do not need a size at all: a phone, a book, a kettle or a bottle of shampoo.
A size chart helps the customer
Sizes differ from one brand to another: an M from one brand may be an L from another.
Adding the measurements of each size in centimetres (chest, waist, length, foot length) to the description helps the customer choose the right size, and means fewer returns.
A size chart is not required. The size is.
What happens if a product does not meet this requirement?
If a product that comes in sizes does not state its size, it may be refused during moderation with the reason No dimensions indicated.
The product will be returned to Draft Products.
To correct it:
- Open Draft Products and find the product.
- If the listing sells one size, add the size to the title, in the Title of product step.
- If the product comes in several sizes, open the Variants step, add the Size feature and one value for each size.
- For products made for a specific model, add the exact model to the title.
- Submit it for approval again.
If you import products from a file or a feed, include the size there too, in the title or in the product's options, so it reaches IVO with the product.
A simple rule to follow
Before submitting a product, ask:
Could the customer receive this product and find that it does not fit?
If the answer is yes, the listing must say which size, dimensions or model it is.
IVO customers should always know which size they are buying.
