The TP-Link TL-FC311A-20 is a Gigabit WDM media converter designed to extend your network reach by connecting fiber optic cabling to standard twisted pair copper wires. It allows you to transmit data over single-mode 9/125 μm fiber for distances up to 20 km, using a 1550 nm wavelength for transmission and 1310 nm for reception. To handle the connection, the device features one Gigabit SC/UPC fiber port and one RJ45 Ethernet port that supports speeds from 10 to 1000 Mbps. This compact unit measures 94.5 x 73.0 x 27.0 mm and is powered by an external 5V adapter. Its Ethernet port includes auto-negotiation for half or full duplex and Auto MDI/MDIX, which means you don't have to worry about using specific crossover cables. For the copper side, it works with Cat 5 or higher for 100 Mbps and Cat 5e or higher for Gigabit speeds up to 100 meters. You can easily monitor the status of your connection via the integrated PWR and Link/Act LED indicators. To complete the link, this model must be paired with the TL-FC311B-20 converter.
